Seasalt Cornwall take inspiration from Scilly flowers - February 2020
Last winter Seasalt Cornwall got in touch and asked if we could help them out. They were planning a Scilly inspired range of clothes and realised if they didn't get over to Scilly pretty quick the scented narcissi season would be over and they wouldn't have the flower pictures needed, 'Oh and by the way could you choose some Seasalt clothes we'd like to feature the owners of Churchtown Farm?'. It isn't every day that one of my favourite clothing brands phones me with such an offer so the answer was easy - 'Yes please - when would you like to come?'
Seasalt make lovely clothes with distinctive prints and designs inspired by the natural environment and people of Cornwall and close by! They started out from a small shop in Penzance that mainly sold camping gear. They now have shops and outlets dotted all over the country spreading a little bit of Cornwall (and Scilly) inspired design.
Seasalt's latest range, inspired by the Isles of Scilly, has beautiful prints and colours which reflect underwater tones and quite a few prints based on the flower farms dotted across the Islands. There is even one print that features the church that gives Churchtown Farm its name and our farmhouse. Of course, we think scented narcissi are wonderful and we know how lucky we are to live and work in such a beautiful environment but we really love it when others are inspired by this natural beauty and create things to share it with others.
We would recommend having a look at the Seasalt website even if you aren't in the market for new clothes. They have captured some lovely images and soundscapes of Scilly and their beautiful blog is full of interesting stories and people that have inspired previous collections .... enjoy.
